GP I'm fine in theory with legalizing weed at the federal level by giving states the option to do so should they like. But the notion that we should wipe out weed related convictions predating legalization? No.
and "it was a crime when you did it" has no bearing on whether it's ACCEPTABLE to let someone out of jail. In 1945 does it make sense to free form jail people who were convicted of harboring Jews? Or must they stay in jail because of the principle of rule of law?

GP I didn't say to not let people out of jail. I was talking about expunging their records, which is what far, far too many are advocating for. And certainly high level weed traffickers should remain in prison.
