I'm still alive, that's what counts. The rest was just stuff. And I've picked up some really nifty books along the way. I tend to be a sucker for books printed before ISBN became a thing.

so my collection of late 1800 - early 1900 books is coming along nicely. And still bound in leather! The Leopard's Spots (1st edition) was a particularly good find in a giveaway pile outside a used bookstore. Couldn't believe they didn't know what they had.
