yeah, I absolutely caught that, and LOLed BUT (a) when shocked by new data, not snapping to decisions is smart (b) fairly often even lawyers retain lawyers so as to not get too close to their own issues / get blinded by their own emotions, no?

"I'm not exactly sure how to proceed from here..." How to proceed is pretty obvious. Whether you should is a different question. I read this statement (as a lawyer, by a lawyer) as admitting a lack of procedural ability/knowledge, not uncertainty as to tactics/strategy. YMMV.
