This is an economic fantasy. Cost-optimal speed for that is probably half of Mach 5. Boeing will never put their own bottom-line money into this. One other point: There is a law of diminishing returns for higher speeds (e.g., doubling speed of a four-hour trip only reduces by two hours, not even counting door to airport and airport to final destination). Urban air mobility may help, but faster may not be worth extra cost.

and there's a constant overhead of getting to the airport and through security 8 hr flight = 3 hours + 8 = 11 4 hr flight (2x speed) = 3 + 4 = 7 = 1.5x speedup 2 hr flight (4x speed) = 2.2x speedup
