the "it's just thermodynamics" argument has ALWAYS pissed me off. On the one hand, it's true: calories in vs calories out. On the other hand, it CLEARLY misses huge amounts of the system: feelings of hunger, energy levels, hormones that either pack calories into fat or liberate

I have that level of hunger several times a day when EATING carbs. Dropping them, and my hunger no longer goes to 11 - capped at about a 4-5.

I’ve noticed that hard keto works *really well* for most men. Myself, I can do it periodically - but cutting carbs to the bone for too long makes me feel crap and seems to mess with my hormones. And no, I don’t “get over it and transition” - I’m talking months when I’ve tried it.

That said, *constant heavy carb intake* makes me feel crap as well. Through trial and error I’ve settled on low-to-moderate carbs and ALSO intermittent fasting as the “sweet spot” for me.

a few times in my life I've lost major weight calorie counting is necessary ... but carb counting makes the hunger much less
