so I'm researching conlangs (constructed languages) because in books 3 and 4 orange-phyle Dogs are going to go the Zionist route of cultural recreation / construction. Dogs will need to spell their new language, using unicode, bc "roman chariot -> shuttle SRB" phenomena.

That suggests to me any written form would end up becoming a semanto-phonetic system. You'd have a lot of symbols representing whole concepts as shorthand, and then accrue phonetic meanings as the spoken form grows.

Rather than having a Cyrillic alphabet, you'd get Egyptian hieroglyphs or Chinese characters. It feels very weird to me compared to English, but isn't that what memes are in a sense? A whole concept compressed into an image, with adjustable bits.
