Withdrawal from a military alliance is a policy preference, not a crime. Whether or not this particular preference is a good one (it's worth discussing), disengagement from military conflicts lies among Trump proposals that should be encouraged.https://twitter.com/PreetBharara/status/1085030347732074496 …

If true: Trump should immediately and publicly state his apparent wish to withdraw from NATO so he can be promptly impeached, convicted, and removed from office.

It's amazing how the mask is pretty well off these days: progs go on record day after day after day arguing that the unelected bureaucracy and "institutional norms" they create have legitimacy, and representatives elected by the populace do not.

They presuppose the "right" political outcomes and allow legitimacy only for such choices that arrive at that destination. It's especially interesting when they shift preferred outcomes and the world is expected to shift with them (though the official opposition is also flexible)

Are you familiar with Kegan levels? Most psych is bunk, but this is a quite interesting theory. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Kegan#The_Evolving_Self … levels 0/1 are "I want what I want NOW" level 2/3 are "my tribe / simple trade" level 4 is "institutions, rules" 4 is, IMO, peak civilization >

2/ It's the "Man For All Seasons" speech: do you really want to cut down all the (institutional) trees to achieve a good effect? The jury trial that protects a murderer someday protects you. I'm a very strong supporter of level 4 ... and worry that level ~2 is ascendant >

3/ Electoral college gives "wrong" result? Junk it. Free speech gives "wrong" result? Junk the 1A. Over and over and over. This is how you pave the way for Maoism and mass murder. Terrifying.

I certainly agree that tribalism--after a happy period of being sidelined--is ascendant once again.
