Lumpenintersectionality has managed to create a conspiracy theory/demonology of 'Whiteness' that, ironically, resembles classical anti-Semitism -- an evil lurking presence responsible for theft, oppression and murder throughout history.

As long as your definition of 'white' is a magical construct with little relation to reality, you can argue this shit all day and glue more and more complicated arguments into the structure, because it's not like you're going to get any answers you didn't invent.

The answer to "do I count as white" in 2018 USA is 'yes, unless you're black, or you make a conscious effort to be not white'. Jews are white, East Asians are white, south Asians are white, Latin@x*&$ are...well, give that another 20 years.

'White' is a fake construct that was originally invented to allow non-British immigrants to be counted as Americans. What it really means is 'not black'. That's the fissure that matters in the USA, the original sin, the thing America can't/won't/doesn't want to solve.

Just trying to discern between "he doesn't WANT to pull that thorn out of his thumb" vs "there's nothing he can DO about that cancer in his pancreas"

There was a moment in, like, 1971 where it seemed like peace might break out. Then everyone gave up and self-segregated, and we got black cable channels instead.

Yep. I agree with that. More thoughts in the treehouse, later, if I have time.
