Getting up there myself. When I asked my local doctor about treatment for acid reflux, he suggested a colonoscopy. The gotcha: General Anesthetic required! WTF.

The first few rounds of tests are not invasive but just blood test or something for enhanced hormones. Buddy just went through this, including elevated up to one if the INVASIVE tests.

Do a Cologuard test (stool study for polyp and cancer DNA) now and every 3 years. If negative after 3, no colonoscopy needed. Check every 3 years after that.

If there's family history, yes. Guy at work got one when he turned 40, because several in his family had it, and had it their 40s.

Long history of polyps in my family, and a great uncle died of colon cancer. I chose to get screened when I was 36. This was after one of my favorite video game reviewers got sick from colon cancer. He died from it too. My doc wanted me to start them at 32.
