Uhhhh ... writing high quality content can not remotely be done at that pace.

I believe it can so long as certain other factors are in line.

"certain other factors" = high quality farmhands

Honestly, my writing speed has just been naturally improving the more I write. First book took a couple years, the second, a year an a half, third, about a half year, latest, 3-4 months. Current project on pace for about 2 months. Books have gotten slightly shorter as well.

Walter B Gibson pumped out about 2 pulp length novels a month. But that man was a freaking machine who kept all the characters and stats in a notecard file system. If you wanna read more about his method I recommend reading The Shadow Scrapbook where he details his method

There's a difference, IMO, between "novel" and "novel-lengthed pile of words". I'm sure many of of us could generate 10 or 15 of the latter per year.

Yeah. My goal, once I can properly do this full time, is somewhere between 4 and 8 books a year (my books all are over 100k.)

If you choose to associate your name with the quality of work that's possible to generate on that schedule...well, it's your reputation. I certainly wouldn't do it.

eh, plenty of market niches, audiences out there

Yep. But there's quality work and there's ... other work. I grant that in a MARKET SENSE, maybe one can write very very very fast and generate XYZ, and people will buy XYZ. But I wasn't talking about the market. I specifically said "associate your name with the quality".

sure, not disagreeing, just shrugging and saying there are other variables one could theoretically care about. talent is a variable, too - time spent isn't the only determining factor.
