Author friends say "boost engagement by setting up an email newsletter". But...I don't write fiction quickly, I don't have a ton of time to READ fiction (bc farm), and I'm on twitter....so what new content? Misc life stuff & random thoughts? Would you sub to a 4-12 / yr email?

3/ OK, I'm starting to type up my first newsletter, chock full of book recommendations, vignettes of farm life, thoughts about science fiction, maybe a recipe or two. If you want to receive it, sign up here http://morlockpublishing.com/email-signup/ Maybe 4 emails per year, zero spam.

4/ OK, I've been wrestling with mailchimp for an hour or two. TLDR: if you've got a http://yahoo.com email addr, please go back and re-sign up http://morlockpublishing.com/email-signup/ Longer version: Mailchimp bitched about low quality (spam?) addrs; visual inspection showed yahoo bad

5/ So just to move forward AT ALL, I purged 100% of the yahoo email addresses from my mailing list. Lost 60% of the list size (which actually suggests that, yeah, there was spam there, bc I doubt that 60% of legit signups used yahoo).

I'd use it more to keep up with release dates. I've unsubbed from other because of talking cats, preaching new moralities, authorial controversies, and other confessional admissions.
-
It has, however, become customary for authors to make reading recommendations or new release announcements for friends.

tbh, I get CURRENT YEAR from twitter, and tweeps. I'd love to see stuff in the other three categories. Craftsmanly things mostly (farm and shop) with pictures (AHEM... with a better camera).
