2/ If "yes", please respond with what you'd like to see in a newsletter. * fiction writing progress / excerpts ? * details of my farm life ? * thoughts on CURRENT YEAR ? * thoughts on fiction and writing ?

3/ OK, I'm starting to type up my first newsletter, chock full of book recommendations, vignettes of farm life, thoughts about science fiction, maybe a recipe or two. If you want to receive it, sign up here http://morlockpublishing.com/email-signup/ Maybe 4 emails per year, zero spam.

4/ OK, I've been wrestling with mailchimp for an hour or two. TLDR: if you've got a http://yahoo.com email addr, please go back and re-sign up http://morlockpublishing.com/email-signup/ Longer version: Mailchimp bitched about low quality (spam?) addrs; visual inspection showed yahoo bad

5/ So just to move forward AT ALL, I purged 100% of the yahoo email addresses from my mailing list. Lost 60% of the list size (which actually suggests that, yeah, there was spam there, bc I doubt that 60% of legit signups used yahoo).

This is still more often than @NickColeBooks sends out emails.

really, as a reader, updates on progress are important. also, much like a twitter feed, personal updates help me as a reader connect to you as an author. farmhand tales are always amusing as they are both personal *and* funny. the easement story was almost a book in itself.

You're prolific on Twitter. I can't imagine anything you'd write that wouldn't be here, and shouldn't be in the books you should be spending your non-Twitter writing time on. You'd spend so much time writing perfect newsletters we'd not see Books 3 & 4, Farm Guide, nor anthology.

This sounds more like a Twitter replacement. So, if Twitter shuts you (or me) down, or just goes under, or you get fed up with it, then sure.

We're in the same boat. I only talk to my subscribers when I've got something interesting to say. Usually, that means news about my new releases & special deals from me & other authors. They love giveaways & $0.99 sales!
-
Yes, I buy every .99 sale unless I have already bought it in the past.
