Slightly tangential but I think everything like this is a case of the brain compressing things over time to useful kernels. They feel very true but end up impossible to easily explain.

#2 I always find amazing I guess the anger comes from cog dissonance: they know they know it ... and then they can't actually explain it. e.g. gun banner: we need to ban all XYZ me: what is an XYZ? gb: it's QRS me: no, it's not QRS = ABC. What is XYZ? gb: IT'S OBVIOUS !!!

Categories are hard. Two stories: (1) I remember having a conversation w my dad when I was < 10 about "how many houses are there in the US?". He shot back "what's your definition of a house? It's actually really hard! Apartment? Mobile home? House w 1 broken window? W 20?

allows for 10% cocoa powder, and it allows for 8% cocoa powder. ...and 4%...and 2% ... in fact, without market feedback, we soon have a race to the bottom where 0.00001% cocoa powder (and the rest consisting of fine sand) is as legitimate as mom's best home baking.
