5/ There are other API entry points. One is the RT, the endorsement, etc. These are likely to be returned in kind (note that I specifically do not say "repaid"). Develop honest friendships with people, give them love, and they'll likely help you down the road.

7/ Finally, realize that sometimes folks don't want to endorse something bc it puts their reputation capital at risk. If person X has a certain standard for what he considers good work, he'll try to avoid endorsing something that doesn't meet it.
