Sweden seems to have figured out how to cut down on recidivism for first time, non-violent offenders through their prison cabins. I don't know if it will work here, but it might be worth a try.

That would really cut into the prison food industrial complex. Like it.

Agreed, how about just a place where you don't have to join a gang just to survive or where you don't need to fear getting assraped. No humans should have to live like that.

I'm sure the spectrum of penalties for every possible crime can be covered with varying numbers of lashings, and the noose. Why have prisons at all?

I wouldn’t be surprised if most of the inmates in German prisons aren’t German.

I think people should be able to buy and sell prisoners. Would definitely pitch in to purchase Ross Ulbrict's time and move him somewhere nicer.

That's why I like as clear cut a delineation between property crimes and deadly crimes as possible. Property crimes you pay back, plus small amount. Over and done. Labor camp or deduct from wages. Deadly crime, death penalty. Prison is supposed to be temp storage till sentence

Right now what we've got is the worst of all sides. No death penalty for murder/pedos, weird payments for property crime if any, and years of prison time thrown on top. It isn't effective, it isn't just, and it costs the taxpayer.
