Is it left wing? I know trads who espouse this, noting e.g. Orthodox sects. Argument isn't so much that it changes people as it is that it prevents predators from hiding in clergy. Ofc people may put forth what you describe also!

I'm arguing that the agitation for it in 2018 America is 100% left wing. I can imagine a different world, where the communists aren't trying to destroy western civ, where there could be agitation for Orthodox style married priests, and that agitation would not come from the left
