3/ This is not "movie star wants to own a 4,000 acre vineyard" budget. This is "work the weekend gig a bit more" budget. 25 gal fermenter are < $1,000. Pumps are $200.

Fermenting grapes for wine? My old man made thousands of gal. Over the yrs. Ffrom the 70's to his last batch around 04 on the cheap. You do not need expensive equipment for that, I do what my dad showed me for mash to run thru my still. If you want some tips I will tweet some

I know I don't need expensive equipment. Re-read my tweet. Wife is already doing it (we have a vineyard on our farm), but is bitching about the manual labor, so I'm thinking of ways to make her life easier.

So less work is having a platform it all sits on to syphon from. Yes getting the fresh water in is work, use a rv fresh water hose the syphoning with a small hose later isn't all that hard labor, just gotta keep an eye on it as it syphons

Destemmer / crrusher has an outflow pipe at toe height. How do I siphon from there up to a fermenter?

One of two things might do the job, a small electric trash pump capable of pumping water and debris or a maceration pump like what would go on a toilet in a basement and pump up to the sewer Harbor freight has pumps

yes, or I could get a purpose-built stainless steel food-and-beverage pump that has tri-clamp fittings that mate with the industrial stainless steel grape destemmer I already have, and buy it from the same vendor...

yes have sent email to the importer of Italian-made wine-factory equipment to verify that the pump they offer is capable of that. Assume so, because this is the standard use case (reds ferment with their skins; whites have skins removed).

I absolutely love fabricating stuff myself, cobbling it together, etc. However: * we're at the point in life where the mortgage is paid off and we're doing OK * ease of storage, ease of cleanup, and just enjoying high quality stuff is very important
