About 30 years ago I started arguing that anyone landing a hot air balloon in your yard is trespassing. About 25 years ago I realized that I should advertise "balloon landing field services - just $1,000" Today I read this:https://www.reddit.com/r/legaladvice/comments/9gjbxq/mn_someone_landed_their_hot_air_balloon_in_my/ …

The concept of "ground crews" and their function in, among other things, securing permission from property owners prior to landing is discussed numerous times in the reddit thread you linked to. I don't know one way or the other from my own knowledge, but that seems sensible.

the truth is somewhere between my "99%" and 0%. Much here about how they try not to trespass...but ALSO: http://www.fun-flying.com/landowner-relations.htm … "Since a balloon cannot hover or stop (unless it is on the ground), we must land first and ask permission after the fact. "
