2/ When I was 16 years old I signed student loans. I'm 47 now. For 2/3 of my life I've been under debt. Sometimes as small as $5k (first semester loans), sometimes close to $1M (mortgage plus cosigned corporate loans). It is very odd to be mostly free.

13/ yeah, my credit rating is not super high, bc the algos don't expect my behavior. 14/ So the upshot is that I'm a 47 yo guy with a grand total of $3k of credit line, and I usually have 2/3 of that used at any given time (I pay it at the end of each month). The lack of bank mortgage makes me look poor in the eyes of the algo!

That's the other part of it. I don't think we stop working, we just no longer have to put in the daily grind for an employer. In some regards I consider you already retired as you work for yourself.
