Can't speak for the States. But up here these groups mostly prevent illegal evictions of paying tenants by scumbag landlords. Which is perfectly ethical IMHO.

The assumption is that the only type of landlord that exists is a plutocrat with a monocle who owns 12 apartment blocks. I’ve no affection for real slumlords, or desire to protect them. But this is dumb.

If he has a monocle ... he's probably not doing well or he's got some issues... spectacles have been available for 2.5 centuries now.

leftoids seem to legit think that capital owners have /no/ legitimate interests seen a lot of them defending tenants who just outright destroy apartments they live in, never pay any rent, takes months and $thousands to get rid of them...

In my state, tenants learned to give false info to gas and electric, pay no rent, move on, stick the landlord with the unpaid utilities. Harder to do this year, but it’s amazing how much these folks know about scofflawing.

this bugs me bc I got behind last year for legit emergency reasons, current landlord's SOP was evict but we reached a voluntary settlement instead: fully paid up as of this month & abt to renew the lease, they're still ok w/me & I'm ok w/them. this shit makes that less possible
