This is explicitly addressed in book 2, when Darcy launches the Deladier at higher than usual speed, and realizes afterwards that she has wasted energy bc air resistance is proportion to v^2 The up/down path is not energy free; ships are recharged on the moon (mentioned in bk 1) https://twitter.com/JASutherlandBks/status/1036977683803131904 …

3/ This is also alluded to in book 1 (very obliquely) when the PKs storm the Wookkie, and Tudel tells Darcy to put the ship right back down.

4/ There are TWO things that are required to go to the moon: (a) radial velocity ("outward"), (b) tangential velocity ("forward"). Apollo accomplished both with a burn of the third stage ("trans lunar injection").

5/ In my novels these are accomplished using different technologies. Radial is via AG drive. Tangential is via chemical rockets.

6/ (I realize that the novels may read a bit like soft SF because I didn't include the calculations in the text. My apologies. </troll> )

Does it talk about a space elevator being used when terraforming?
