Excellent choice on your welder. Hobart is made by Miller welders, so they are good quality, just without some of the bells and whistles. I bought a handler 185 several years ago and taught myself to weld with it.

Bought a Handler 175 almost 20 years ago. Has done everything I've asked of it: small projects when I lived in suburbia, heavy duty farm projects out here in the boonies. People crap on Hobart as "consumer grade" but I think their heavy duty models are good value.

I considered that one when I bought my plasma cutter, but reading about it on the Hobart forum changed my mind. Guys felt the onboard compressor robbed too much power, and hurt the performance of the machine.
