Just tried to go somewhere and the car wouldn't start. Starter spun, but didn't engage. Centrifugal clutch bad? Maybe. Research needed. Looks like I'm gonna be doing some wrenching soon...

2/ OK, this doesn't look too bad. $250 part, and the part store says they can deliver. Labor would be ~$300, towing to the shop would be $50+, and who knows when they'd fit me in. Fingers crossed I can do this tomorrow morning. http://www.hsguide.net/starter_repair_procedures-81.html …

"if you can get to the damn thing." this is the ONLY question I've swapped out alternators, etc. Popped the hood this morning, looked down, saw a transverse engine, saw a bunch of pulleys in a very tight space...worried. Service manual makes it look possible tho
