IIRC, it was revisiting the basic big object coming problem of LH, in a later era, rather than a direct sequel.

If somebody wanted to do a book in homage to LH, I don't think anyone sane would be offended so long as it was good. Heck, it could be two or more books in adjoining universes. We can stop it, we can't stop it, we can make it less severe, etc.

This is the more eloquent way of making the point I harp on: "there are books that need to exist, and books that were written for a paycheck". There's zero shame in being a tradesman...but if you CAN aim higher, why not?
