I had conversations with Jerry about returning to that world or another take on the story in a later era better equipped to track and react to the comet. It's something he thought about a fair bit but it never really came together.

I suspect projects like that, trying to be as accurate as possible in a contemporary setting, are very demanding and 'Footfall' was the last time the conditions were right to let them make it happen.

Having major portions of the cast of characters be based on real people helped some, I suppose. It was funny, when reading 'Footfall' the second time and realizing I knew a bunch of these people. Then going back and realizing how much they'd done this previously.
