I've got my own story: sending work out without permission, sabotaging another agent relationship, slipshod work, terse communication.

Just read a little about this guy and the other recent agent controversy. Kinda puts the whole "agent" business under a spotlight, and make you wonder - "... tell me again why this is a thing?"

if your firm was hiring and I said "you should interview X; I know him, I like him", you would. And you'd put in a good word with YOUR boss. ...because you trust me (somewhat) and I'd do the same for you. Attach a fee to this, and you've got an agent.
