“The United States has no official language.” Every aspect of the government is controlled by documents written in English. Constitution, US Code, CFR - all English. So tell me again how we don’t have an official language when the .gov only uses one language.

I used to believe that until I met a man who was a banker in his former country and could only be low wage worker in the US because of his bad English. It woke me up. I became an ESOL teacher.

The real problem with Spanish: Its use might imply that Hispanics belong here more than other immigrants. That's an anti-immigration policy that disapproves of people crossing, not borders, but oceans.

For example: The U.S. government authorized a Spanish translation of The Star Spangled Banner in 1919. That's shortly before the gates slammed shut.
