I think this is pretty much the standard for anyone. Nobody cares when the family agrees on something. My entire family wears religious & patriotic t-shirts so we don't have an issue with each other. But wear something with a leftist message & we'd shun that member.

All my casual T-shirt’s somehow relate to America or have the American flag on them. My leftist friends call it obnoxious, I call them traitors.pic.twitter.com/9OIDBhyLjE

Not a big fan of the American flag myself. Left-wingers took over the USG 100 years ago and have never given it back The flag represents, among other things, a welfare state, punishing taxes, wasteful spending, stupid military adventurism, etc I love America but I hate the USG

The answer the any Slate author's "What should I do?" is pretty much always going to be "go fuck yourself", of course.

I’ve got a pin that says “I’m the elephant in the room” I wear at conventions and events. Otherwise, it lived in the car. Politics shouldn’t be always on, all the time.
