Neuro-atypicals? Not too euphemistic there.

A pal of mine told me the story of when he showed up for a cruise, they met him at the gangplank with a wheel chair. He asked why. They said his booking was marked as "physically challenged."
-
He screamed at the guy with the wheel chair: "You fucking idiot, I'm blind, not lame. I walk just fine."

I myself have trouble reading social cues. I am not diagnosed nor do I think I'm on the spectrum. I have to imagine it is impossible for even mildly autistic folks to read a room and tell whether a given joke/comment will be merely raunchy/edgy or is offensive "hate speech."

If the consequence for offense is a mere mild rebuke and correction this isn't so bad. If the consequence is social ostracization, harassment from angry mobs, and suspension of social media accounts, this is a risk for everyone, but so much more for atypicals.
