Wife and I went out for sushi to celebrate. Sushi is soooo good. ...and yet we do it so rarely. I can drop $1,200 on fence posts without thinking twice, but $75 for a fancy dinner requires so much deliberation, soul searching, and then (90% of the time) self denial.

Set a reasonable savings goal (eh, 'reasonable'), then force yourself to spend at least half of what you save past that, if you do.

the thing is, bc of Crash of 2008 I had to declare bankruptcy, lost all of my retirement savings. My "reasonable" savings rate, starting at age 47 (once mortgage it paid off in a few months) is REALLY HIGH
