I hate cops...but I'm not going to condemn one for pulling his pistol for a moment when he's totally alone and people are intentionally encroaching and pushing into his blind spot. They wanted trouble. They got it. His response was proportional.https://twitter.com/theappeal/status/1015722486300737536 …

Never point a gun at someone you don't plan to kill.

not sure I agree w the hard line version of that I'll grant "never point a gun at someone you aren't PREPARED to kill, given developments". A cop (gov, free market, whatever) apprehending one person for violation of a law COULD be tackled from behind, disarmed, and killed.

2/ If I were a homeowner apprehending two burglars inside my house, and one of them started to circle behind me, you can bet $$$$ I'd have my gun out. Hell, if there were ten 14 year olds trespassing and I had a gun: in the holster. ...UNTIL they start circling behind.

Policemen get paid a rather High salary to take risks, and they retire at an early age with a very generous pension.

Agreed, in the general case! I strongly disagree w the "the most important thing is that an officer come back alive". No - the most important thing is that the citizens have their rights respected. However, someone circling behind being briefly drawn on seems on the ok side
