1/ Many people have described my novels as "hard science fiction", which I find slightly odd. I fudged things, like energy storage density in gyroscopic batteries, etc. I started out having dates in the novel, but removed them because was too lazy to check all the orbits.

2/ So in my mind, even though I calculated things like space suit usage duration based on potassium superoxide CO2 scrubbing, and kinetic energy from gravel boats, because I skipped some other calculations I didn't earn the "hard" adjective.

I guarantee you this is one area (one of the few) where he is not consistent. Or rather, he consistently holds himself to standards he demands of no one else.

On a scale of one to ten, he holds others to an eight, expects them to produce a six, and usually gets a three. He holds himself to a fifteen and only produces a twelve.
