2/ So in my mind, even though I calculated things like space suit usage duration based on potassium superoxide CO2 scrubbing, and kinetic energy from gravel boats, because I skipped some other calculations I didn't earn the "hard" adjective.

6/ I have no problem with fantasy and fluff being published. Let a thousand market niches bloom. What I hate is that SF has keen killed and female-written SJW-friendly YA fluff has flensed it and is wearing its skin around like a floppy Stop Making Sense era David Byrne suit.

On the hardness scale you're still pretty far up there. The 'big lie' inherent to the AG drive lets us know that this story is going to take certain liberties. And even the all-time great authors can't declare that they got *everything* right, since so many unknowns remain.

We can be pretty sure that gene-editing and such will make it *possible* to 'uplift' certain species, including dogs, but can we 'scientifically' determine how those dogs will think, act, and organize their society? Well, no way, too many variables.
