i think we also all want different things from a story experience, weight different factors differently. one reason the expanse works for me is its aesthetics, and the sense-of-place it conveys. originality, unique new mind-blowing scifi ideas? not as important to me in this case

toolchest, what a 250 gallon IBC tote looks like, which manufacturers sell those standard orange barrels, etc. Kinda loses that SF edge when you're like "yeah, I have half that shit at my farm"

oh, no - i get it, i know how set design works. imagine how much shittier and cheaper it looks to the actual eye irl. must be weird to act on a set and see the fakery so much more clearly.
