He didn't really try. He wants any solutions to fit within the "rich make gobs of money and never pay their fair share" model. He needs to be primaried and the Dems need to win bigger in '22, so Manchin can switch parties officially and it have no impact on progress.

Honestly, I felt gaslit when the vast majority of progressives caved and voted to pass the bipartisan infrastructure bill with only "assurance on Biden's word." BBB and infrastructure never should have been decoupled.

1- the vaccine and testing requirements may be helpful, but such an enormous policy decision should have been legislation, not regulation 2- build back better was an extremely complex bill that would have had complex economic implications, and inflationary effects were complex.
