...and Medicare for All would be cheaper by approximately $5 trillion 😉https://twitter.com/Public_Citizen/status/1278761108107558912 …

If you think Medicare for All is too expensive, here's your reminder that the US is currently slated to spend $52,000,000,000,000 on health care over the next decade. That's with no changes to our current, for-profit system.

I’ve heard low estimates of 15T and higher estimates of 40T. our government will put ~36T+ into healthcare over the decade. along with the income tax, it will be much cheaper, even with the high estimate.

I find it amusing that Republicans and certain establishment democrats find med4all "too expensive". Yet the cost of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan didn't bother them at all.

M4A was the cheapest option available during the primary, it also provided the most benefits and best outcomes. This isn't hard to believe with a cursory examination of every country which runs a modern healthcare system (which includes many countries not in the OECD).

I’ve used the NHS multiple times in my stay over here in the UK. It works. It’s wonderful. The most I’ve paid for is cab fare. America deserves our own NHS.

Not to mention 53% discretionary spending is straight to defense. “How do we pay for it?!” can always swiftly be answered with the slightest inspection of our priorities.

Healthcare being in mandatory spending, one could imagine all the ways discretionary spending could go towards community services, sustainable infrastructure, clean energy, sanitation, public transit. You know, for good public health, that make medical care less costly overall?
