That Berkeley has declared a climate emergency yet has shut down zero streets to cars, has built zero new bike lanes, had made no new bus priority lanes, has had a major transit-oriented housing project fall through, is making me very skeptical of these pointless declarations.

Nothing says like making it harder for literally 10 people to board the bus because there is a pickup truck parked legally for free in front of a bus stop in a school zone

Allowing parking at this bus stop is egregious. It’s in a school zone and removing the parking here would provide much needed visibility for pedestrians. The bus stop on the opposite corner does have a red curb. request for red curb at 8th and Balboa.

Summary: - the bike lane replaced a shoulder - car congestion was bad before the bike lane - congestion persists because there are too many cars - the bike lane is popular - some people mistakenly blame the bike lane for car congestion We should definitely keep the bike lane.
