This makes the Amazon monopoly somewhat more palatable.https://twitter.com/CatClifford/status/991013181182103552 …

You've seen this? According to this article it's not just tax evasion and the USPS and the monopoly but also the government subsidizing his a lot of his employees with SNAP. https://theintercept.com/2018/04/19/amazon-snap-subsidies-warehousing-wages/ …

I hadn't thanks! I'm generally familiar with the ideas behind it. Amazon is the master of the legal, but not ethical, IMO. My company was offered $1000 to $5000 bonuses for job creation by the county here in Texas. I turned down a $17,000 grant to receive fiber to our building.

I did not negotiate in a tough way or really negotiate at all. In fact, I'm thankful and honored to have this benefit offered. What I'm trying to say is imagine what kind of benefits the militant mercantilist Amazon could extract with negotiation!

Yeah im sure they do... unfortunately politicians everywhere have a huge incentive to give breaks for large corps to lower unemployment.

Do you know the Tullock Paradox? Anyways, in my case...we won't do much in the way of reducing unemployment and unemployment here is below 2.9% so...besides local pride and maybe a respect for what we do, it's hard for me to understand their incentive to incentivize us.

I havent heard of it but i checked it out thanks! Who approached you? Or is it like a public program? I have no idea, maybe they want to foster growth, hoping it pushes up their assets or something (buying a house 30 years ago in silicon valley payed out).

I approached them asking for real estate and then at some point I asked if any incentives were available.
