They are both modeled after Buffett's setup at Berkshire. Read their IPO letters and see if you can spot the admitted similarities.

I have a vague awareness of the similarities. Early in their existence Amazon and Google were both great innovative companies. Today, they are mostly anti-competitive semi-monopolies whose saving grace is their ostensible willingness to make small bets in emergent technologies.
