      Why does it make sense to divide the number of games played (31) with the number of pairings (32 Choose 2 = 16*31)?

      All pairings are equiprobable since players have the same strength and a given pairing can only happen once

      Thanks! I knew that but, didn't make the connection between your point and the below: Incorrect: 1/496 + 1/495 + 1/494 + 1/493 + ... + 1/435 Correct: 1/496 + 1/496 + 1/496 + ... + 1/496 = 31/(16*31)
