Trying to Occam's razor healthcare in the U.S. and struggling hard. Is this all correct? 1. Hospitals must take care of non-paying homeless and undocumented, and thus pass the cost to paying customers. 2. Hospitals make little to no money on Medicaid and Medicare patients
3. Patients with health insurance have little reason to turn down unnecessary procedures and tests because they don't foot the bill 4. Hospitals thusly are incentivized to offer unnecessary tests and procedures to pad their bottom line

5. The ensuing fight over these bills leads to increased administration on both the health insurance and health provider's side 6. Pharma companies, without the uniquely profitable u.s. market, would have less incentive to develop new drugs and treatments.
