No credible good evidence to support my "like 100x" easily found on google. I remember reading a stat like that ages ago and it was confirmed anecdotally by my conversation with an commercial airline pilot who I happened to sit next to.
There are definitely a few South East Asian airlines of crappy quality as well, at least that was the case a few years ago. I was specifically warned about Lion air by Indonesians.
Yeah for sure! SEA is a total mess. Many Filipino, Indonesian, and famously Malaysian airlines have high rates of incident. Taiwan also is weirdly high, though not in SEA.
