Are old people "racist"* because they grew up in another era or because they just don't give a fuck? *Gave it quotes because this word is used so widely that it has basically lost its meaning.

I think a lot of people conflate generational differences with changes in thinking as we age. "Oh my god, this 'millenial' generation is so X" where X is some attribute that is correlated with youth. Well so were their baby boomer parents 40 years ago.
