If you talk to enough taxi drivers, you learn that they were academics, production managers, designers, etc. in their home countries so, in a way, there is a contradiction here.
First, if it weren't to the advantage of the taxi driver, it wouldn't have happened right? Second, it was to your advantage that your father left Ukraine right? Third, I bet you're not a taxi driver - seems to me you're doing big, good things, AFAIK.

Third, many taxi drivers are doing it part-time, while they attempt to regain their home country's status. Fourth, I've met many formerly important taxi drivers in the U.S. - no one has ever said "yeah...in my home country, I was nothing." Is that selection bias or BS?

Lastly, I'm sorry that Ukraine is currently a mess, but basically...I want smart Ukrainians in my country, because it's better for them, me, and my fellow Americans.
