Fake narrative to justify expropriation: 1% of taxpayers pay ~ half of taxes for SAME services. You want them to pay 110%? 200%?https://twitter.com/B_Ehrenreich/status/931934347699073027 …

Instead of tax reform, why not just require every poor and middle class person to send a check for, say, $1000 to their favorite rich person.

I’d even go so far as to argue LESS services since 1% don’t use many public options but are forced to pay for them anyway (e.g. schools).

Actually it's more. Walmart benefits from the free roads they use than an individual does. Microsoft/Oracle benefits from the public schools and universities which license their products Facebook benefits from the stability of 300m+ people to update their lives regularly

Your point is logically inconsistent with higher taxation. If Walmart drivers drive more, they pay more gas tax as these maintain the road. Install more tolls on roads . Very sloppy reasoning all acorss.

I wasn't arguing about changing taxation. Someone commented that the top 1% consume less public services. I think they consume more than their share. Especially tech companies who are building billions of dollars of wealth off of government research effectively given to them

Micah, you equated the rich with the corporations they have shares in. Mark Zuckerberg isn't using 20% of data transferred over the internet and 2% of the electricity. Facebook is. Different.

I'm equating to what they built their wealth off of, and what they are subsequently dependent on to maintain their wealth. Without roads, walmart doesn't exist Without the internet, facebook isn't here etc

So tax Walmart for their road use (which already happens through tolls and gas taxes) and tax facebook for its use of internet infrastructure.
