Sure, if you want higher total tax outtake. But that's another argument than progressive/regressive. Could also start taxing income at +30% above $2k/y like Sweden. The way the welfare state was sold and got massive buy-in here.

Disagree, but that aside, comparing federal level to "best practices" in countries more equivalent to Vermont than US as a whole is seriously flawed.
