Sometimes I'll be on the receiving end of someone trying to explain something to me that I already understand (maybe better than they do). I want them to shut up but instead of politely waste my life instead. What's the most polite, effective way to interrupt someone?

I think if you look closely you will see that it all comes down to money. Hospitals are being paid for covid patients handsomely by the government. I'm with you on that, but the stats can only be faked so much right? The people in the ICU...what do you think they have if not covid? The people dying from covid? How are they dying? Because of the lockdown you have way fewer people going to ICU from car crashes.
