Can you test, take everything off sponsored for a month, then everything back on for a month, then compare?
Yes, but it's a very imperfect test. It's complex and there are weird self-reinforcing loops. Plus, there is seasonality.

ideally we'd switch it on and off every hour or something, but it's not so easy to do.
