I am trying to figure out if we should lower our Amazon advertising spend. How do you treat products advertised on Amazon? (If you're curious, see next tweet for what advertising on Amazon looks like)
Sellers who pay for advertising are definitely more likely to pay for fake reviews, but we pay for it and we don't do fake reviews so it's not perfectly correlated.

There was a particularly egregious example I saw recently. Where it seems the seller had exploited something in Amazon so that reviews for other products ended up in their reviews for a specific one they were selling. It was like a bug zapper and all the reviews for clearly 1/2

for other products. It had hundreds of positive reviews, but it was like "This stone decoration was amazing", followed by, "These mittens fit perfect!"
