      Back in the day moving a giant retail store out to the middle of nowhere near a highway interchange, and using that leverage to bring tons of other retailers to that location creating an entire ecosystem and flywheel effect

      I would argue that "category killer" big box is another example. Toys R Us, Best Buy, Home Depot were all wrapped up into the department store.
